How to measure - single hinged door screen residential - m2m - option 1 and 2

The instructions below explain how to measure for ordering options 1 and 2 and provides additional fitting information at the bottom of the page.

OPTION 1. MAKE MY SCREEN TO MY FINISHED SIZES

If you are familiar with the product and know exactly what size you want your screen to be, provide us with the outer edge dimensions of the frame of your screen. Enter the finished width A, and finished height B, in the boxes.

Make sure you have made any allowances for the screen overlap on to the flat framework of your door frame and your fixing method. The flat framework around your door must be considered at the narrowest point, for example, If the skirting overlaps the door frame you need to use the clear frame space next to the skirting. You will need to allow 16mm for your hinges, 14mm for the magnetic catches and if you select the brush strip option allow 30mm to the height.

We will make your screen to these sizes (i.e. the overall frame size will match your A & B dimensions as shown below).

OPTION 2. CALCULATE MY FINISHED SCREEN SIZE FOR ME

Provide us with the dimensions of your door opening and surrounding framework and let us calculate the size of your screen for you.

The attached video explains in detail how to measure but the drawings below will also assist. If you have any obstructions on your framework that you are unsure how to overcome please contact us. Remember to provide C to F dimensions at the narrowest point.

If your door handle protrudes beyond the face of your door frame (i.e. the frame you will be fitting the screen to) when the door is closed, it may prevent you from fully closing the screen and the door at the same time.

Solutions are:

  1. If the screen is fitted to the inside of the property leave it partly open or lift it off the hinges (the hinges are designed so the screen can be easily removed when required)
  2. Fit the screen to the surrounding wall i.e. beyond the reach of the handle so that it can close fully. This may not always be desirable or possible if the surrounding surfaces are not flat or far enough forward.
  3. Fit a secondary frame (we can provide uPVC framework - see related products) that finishes beyond the door handle and fit your screen to that frame.

If you would like to discuss any of these options in more detail please contact us.
