For this kit please measure the height and width as per the diagram. These measurements relate to the “open space” i.e. the space created once the doors are open.
As long as the width and height of your door opening are within the measurements specified for a kit, that kit will be the correct kit for you e.g. if the width of your door opening is 1600mm and the height is 1990mm then the smaller kit (1800mm x 2000mm) is the kit you require.
The screen frame is 40mm wide and is designed to be placed directly onto your door frame. The hinges sit to the side of the screen and will require additional space.
For example, on each side of your door frame you would require 40mm for the frame + 15mm for the hinge (a total of 55mm). If you are limited for space, the screen size can be reduced by as much as 30mm each side.
If your door handle protrudes beyond the face of your door frame (i.e. the frame you will be fitting the screen to) when the door is closed, it may prevent you from fully closing the screen and the door at the same time.
If you would like to discuss any of these options in more detail please contact us.

We offer two types of mesh with this screen. Your choice will depend on which insects you wish to keep out.
BetterVue insect mesh - 18 x 18 holes per square inch
Examples of insects this mesh will keep out:
BetterVue insect mesh is designed and manufactured to ensure maximum visibility (through the screen) ensuring as much light passes into the room as possible.
We recommend this mesh for all areas of the UK except in parts of Scotland where Midges are present and other parts of the UK where Corn Flies and Thunder Bugs/Thrips are present.
Midge mesh - 30 x 20 holes per square inch
This mesh will keep out:
Midge mesh has a tighter weave than BetterVue insect mesh to ensure Midges, Corn Flies and Thunder Bugs/Thrips cannot penetrate, however the visibility and airflow is reduced slightly.
We recommend this mesh in parts of Scotland where Midges are present and other parts of the UK where Corn Flies and Thunder Bugs/Thrips are present.
Please note - genuine Midge mesh is 30 x 20 - anything less e.g. 20 x 20 or 18 x 16 will not keep midges out.
A DIY Kit to make a pair of hinged door fly screens to keep out flies, wasps, mosquitoes, moths and other unwanted insects
Additional protection from midges, if Midge Mesh option is chosen
Fits directly onto the door frame
Supplied as a self-assembly kit, with all components in standard lengths which can be cut to the size required during production
Choice of 2 kit sizes, with options for frame colour & mesh
Please note: These screens are generally fitted to the door frame so if your door handle protrudes beyond the face of your door frame it may not be possible to close the screen and your door at the same time. Please find suggested solutions in the ‘how to measure’ tab.
