For this kit please measure the height and
width as per the diagrams below. These measurements relate to the “open
space” i.e. the space created once the window is open.
As long as
the width and height of your window opening are within the measurements
specified for a kit, that kit will be the correct kit for you e.g. if
the width of your window opening is 680mm and the height is 360mm then
the smallest kit (760mm x 380mm) is the kit you require.
Please note these width and height sizes are interchangeable.
Things to consider when measuring:
The
screen frame is 30mm wide and is designed to be placed directly onto
your window frame. The lift on/off hinge and turn button fixings sit to
the side of the screen and will require additional space - 15mm for the
hinge and 10mm for the turn button. So, for example, on one side of your
window frame you would require 30mm for the frame + 15mm for the hinge
(a total of 45mm) and on the other 30mm for the frame + 10mm for the
turn button (a total of 39mm). If you are limited for space the size of
the screen can be reduced by as much as 20mm.
The magnetic fixing is narrower than the width of the screen frame so no additional space is required with this fixing.

Which mesh do I need ?
We offer two types of
mesh with this screen. Your choice will depend on which insects you
wish to keep out and the type of use. Both meshes are fully compliant
with food safety regulations.
Standard insect mesh - 18 x 16 holes per square inch
Examples of insects this mesh will keep out:Bees
& Wasps, Bluebottles, Cluster Flies, Crane Flies, Daddy-Long-Legs,
House Flies, Hornets, Ladybirds, Mosquitoes, Moths, Butterflies and
Spiders.Standard insect mesh is designed and manufactured
to ensure maximum visibility (through the screen) ensuring as much light
passes into the room as possible.
We recommend this mesh
for all areas of the UK except in parts of Scotland where Midges are
present and other parts of the UK where Corn Flies and Thunder
Bugs/Thrips are present.
Midge mesh - 30 x 20 holes per square inch
This mesh will keep out:The same as Standard insect mesh + Midges, Corn Flies and Thunder Bugs/Thrips
Midge
mesh has a tighter weave than Standard insect mesh to ensure Midges,
Corn Flies and Thunder Bugs/Thrips cannot penetrate, however the
visibility and airflow is reduced slightly.
We recommend this mesh in parts of Scotland where Midges are present and other parts of the UK where Corn Flies and Thunder Bugs/Thrips are present. Please note - genuine Midge mesh is 30 x 20 - anything less e.g. 20 x 20 or 18 x 16 will not keep midges out.
Stainless steel insect mesh - 18 x 14 holes per square inch
Examples of insects this mesh will keep out:
Bees & Wasps, Bluebottles, Cluster Fies, Crane Flies, Daddy-Long-Legs, House Flies, Hornets, Ladybirds, Mosquitoes, Moths, Butterflies and Spiders.
Stainless steel insect mesh is highly durable and long lasting which makes it ideal for demanding commercial environments. This mesh is fully compliant with food safety regulations.
We recommend this mesh for screens in commercial kitchens, where regular screen cleaning is required and routine use may result in damage to a standard mesh.
Fixings
Lift on/off hinges with turn buttons
This fixing consists of a 2 part hinge, one part fixes to the edge of the screen and the other to your window frame. Both are screwed in position. The two hinge parts are connected with a pin which means you can lift the screen off the hinge for removal and storage. The screen is held closed with 'turn buttons' as shown in the second image below. The button is turned through 90 degrees to lock/release the screen.
Magnetic strips
This fixing consists of a magnetic strip (brown) and a stainless steel strip (off white) each with a peelable self adhesive back. For a white framed screen, the brown magnetic strip is fixed to the rear of the screen and the stainless steel strip is fitted to the window frame. This is reversed for a brown framed screen. The combination of the magnet and steel strip holds the screen in place. No drilling or screwing is required for this fixing.
Turn Buttons
The screen is held closed with 'turn buttons' placed on all sides of the screen. The button is turned through 90 degrees to lock/release the screen.
